A truly aquatic plant, this plant originates from Sri Lanka and grows to a maximum height of 14 inches. This plant grows very rapidly but as it matures its growth rate begins to decrease. This plant requires bright lighting but is very adaptable. If planted in low lighting this plant will grow longer stems and elevated leaves rather than bushier lower leaves. This is an attempt to maximize its source of lighting. (The higher the leaves, the more light it can use)
This plant should be kept in a temperature of 72-86F/ 22-30C. When it has established itself in your tank it will be able to be propagated by pollination and or seeding. This plant may also flower in a planted tank, so give it good care. The aponogeton crispus is also known as the "crinkled" aponogeton or the "ruffled aponogeton.
If you want to keep your plants in an optimum state you will need to incorporate the following in your tank: A nutrient based substrate, good filtering, good lighting, food (vitamins, liquid/tab fertilizers) and CO2.
