This fish is black neon tetra. Black neon tetra comes to us from the waters of Brazil. It's a relatively popular fish due in part to the fact that it's pretty easy to breed. And because of this the black neon tetra is widely available in most pet shops.
2. Feeding Tips
Feeding the black neon tetra is also fairly to do, you're gonna want to use slow sinking foods as the black neon tetra hangs around the middle of the tank. They'll accept frozen and live foods such as small black or blood worms. They're also herbivores but they typically leave the plants we keep in our tank alone.
3. Characteristics
The black neon tetra is a social fish and should be kept in a group with a minimum of 6 black neon tetras. A good basic rule of thumb for keeping the black neon tetras together is to keep one gallon per one black neon tetra. You can keep the black neon tetra with other fish just be sure not to keep them with anything too big. A golden winter gobby for example is not that much bigger but can definitely catch and eat a neon tetra.
4. Tank Setup
When it comes to the aquarium setup with the black neon tetra, they do need hiding spaces however they do also enjoy open spaces for them to swim around. So it's best to keep all bushy plants or on the edges and the back of your aquarium and leave the middle and foreground empty swimming space. When it comes to the water parameters of the black neon tetra, it's best to keep them in soft acidic water with temperatures in between 68 to 78 degrees fahrenheit.
And there's not much more to the black neon tetra than that they're pretty basic and symbol fish to keep. Mostly recommended for beginners as they're small in size and easy to manage.
